4 hour pose.

I am protesting the unreasonable pricing for open studios out here. I agree the models need to earn a decent pay for their work, but when I was in school, we did it for the exercise. It is not for those who can afford their own model, more for us all to keep practicing like the students.

A high school for the arts near the university has a weekend open studio. Same pose both days, and THIS one has apparently gone on for three weeks. I only got four hours in, but it felt wonderful!

Very nice painting. As for the price of open sessions, you could always do what I did. Start your own group. We meet in my house weekly.

Last night the model was so good I asked her to come to my house for an all-day session. I need to work alone with a model for once, as the sessions quickly turned into social events. This model is not a talker, so I just had to ask her to pose privately for me.

She's coming Sunday, and I'll pay her $100 for the day. I'll post here if all goes well.

Nice, Debra. You're lucky to have this opportunity. My hometown, opportunities are not many.

Jeff, good for you - I've done the home sessions for small groups, and it's a lot of work preparing.

By the way, the amount of visual info you got in place in just four hours is amazing!

It is amazing. Four hours sounds like a lot until you try to actually produce something that fast.

Debra,
Very lovely.

Models need to make a living, as do all of us. Open studio prices, depending upon the sponsor, may have varying $.

Creative sessions are a wonderful opportunity.

My mantra? If the model ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.

Hope to see your demo Friday!

Thank you, Chris!

It is almost NOT quite hot enough to look forward to it! This will be my first up there, so I am planning on a very early departure from down here for the lay of the land.

The burden of pleasing the model lifted, a group session is such a joy. I do my best work on my own. You brought this up again and I must admit, I am yearning for more opportunities to work from life. This is an old posting, and I see the School is charging a more reasonable rate. I need to go down the block and grab at least one session a month.

See you Friday, I hope!
