One Hour Study. . .
There is a 'Life Drawing' session that meets weekly right up the street from me. I'd stopped going as the poses were only from 2 - 20 minutes. But the group's agreed to let me have some longer poses (I stay put, but they all move around at the 20 minute intervals so that they're drawing from a different position.) During the shorter poses at the beginning, I just mixed up a bunch of flesh colors-- but then was rewarded with a one hour and a 30 minute pose at the end. This worked out pretty well.
The upright is the one hour pose.
The reclined is the 30 minute.

Really nice, Terri. I'm jealous, wishing there was a life class around me . . . That hour and a half must just FLY by.

Pat, Chris--Thanks! It is fun... sort of an adrenaline rush to try to get it all down on canvas in a limited amount of time. I'm so used to a nice leisurely flow at home, this is a real change of pace.
The whole session lasts for three hours... and during the first hour, while everyone else was doing sketches of 2-5 minute poses, I was able to get a whole bunch of flesh tones mixed up. Having these already available for the hour pose really helped take some of the stress out of being limited for time!

Thanks Sharon! . . . was surprised at how much I was able to get done so quickly. It really helped mixing up the colors before the longer poses --and there is a certain freedom that comes from knowing that this was just for practice. Managed to get a good likeness of the model, but wasn't really worrying about that while painting. Thought of it more as taking notes, color notes, on what was in front of me.
Because of school vacation and a scheduling conflict, the life group isn't meeting again until March 8th, so I'll get to try this again, if they'll tolerate me!

This week's 1 hour pose
Well, here's this weeks effort after a 2 week break... Had a little harder time getting started on this one.
