I would have picked up any Rembrandt painting, because my purpose was to try to find out how to reproduce his technique, which as we know is everyone's guess. Young Rembrandt and his friend Jan Lievens made many experiments with oil paints and different mediums to produce startling effects in their paintings, unfortunately those "secrets" were lost in time. Trying to figure out how he did it is a real challenge.
