Hello from sunny Glasgow, UK

Greetings all. I'm a (mostly) self-taught and self-teaching amateur/student living in Glasgow. I have recently started painting again after a long hiatus and am hoping to make a career switch from cancer scientist to painter over the course of the next few years. I'm excited to be able to draw on the resources of this forum and the expertise of its users to help me do so. I've attached a recent self-portrait below, and you can have a look at my blog http://lmsketches.wordpress.com/ .

Lovely piece Lewis! A lot of members may be busy getting ready for the big portrait conference in Philly next week!

Thank you Chris, Cynthia. It's good to know that forum members are busy. Something to take encouragement from I suppose!

Welcome Lewis,
I was in Glasgow myself last month. I could spend all day at Kelvingrove Art Gallery. Love your work and look forward to seeing more posts from you!

Your talent makes me happy. You have a good sense of color, value and brushwork. You should investigate the BP Portrait Award at London's National Portrait Gallery. Exhibiting there is a nice goal to work toward.
