Portrait of Ann




This is a portrait of Ann. Pastel on Canson paper 12x 16. It was done along follow artist Denis Jacques and Ann Rochefort during the opening night of Pastel Society of Eastern Canada (PSEC) Annual Exhibition .

Great variation in skin tones. The face is an interesting one. I like the combination of the earth-tone lines mixed with areas of color. Nicely done - and on the rough side of the paper too, it looks like!

Thanks Julie.
I am a little off on the proportions on the distance between the nose and mouth. I like the to use the rough side of the paper because I can combine and let the color of the paper show through with the pastel. I don't like it though when I have to do a solid dark color like dark colored hair. Those deep holes are sometimes hard to fill.
