I was thinking the very same thing as I scrolled down - you really captured the leather beautifully! Very nice painting.

Thanks Richard and Laurel . After your comments on the leather jacket ,I'm thinking maybe the values on the jacket is too light. I have a tendency to give the textures too much attention which detracts from the face.

Nice portrait, and I agree about capturing the leather!

Is the pupil of his right eye (the one in the light) little off-center? The very first thing I noticed was that eye, and I wondered if it was just a bit too dark, or something. Then I looked more closely and it seems the pupil is slightly to the left-of-center (from our perspective.)

Hi Debra, After you mentioned it I went back and looked at it and it was a little off so I made some changes.I also re shot the photo out side it made a big difference in apperance
