John

The president of our state wide art association is not very photogenic. He has loads of personality and a monster smile, but he photographs like a muppet. Really, all mustache and expression.

I did some very marginal at best sketches for a recent opening and his was really the worst. To prove myself, I said I would do another from some photos we took. Again, not so good in the reference department, but this beats anything I have seen printed of him so far.

A nice little 6x8" watercolor that he might use in some PR for the group, I hope!

Debra,

One would never know that it was taken from a bad photo. Nice! I envy you your ability in watercolors.

Debra, from your explanation I couldn't imagine how this was going to look. You really made me nervous! I love the expression. He looks as though he's about to speak. You really pulled it off!

Thank you both.

I think I am less daunted by watercolor because I have cranking out small ones. The format is the same size as my pet pieces which is the size of a standard photo mat or frame. It is my response to hard economic times. Make the paintings small enough to fit a budget, but don't change the rate I charge for the larger pieces.

I have posted three other board members in this project of 10. John asked what it would cost, which is hard. I will happily sell them individually, but the goal is to have them reproduced with my name on it so their faces on the promotional materials go out with my tag line.

Priceless.

An easier way to volunteer than actually sweating and hanging shows.
