Gary
This is a portrait of a fellow artist who I swap to do portraits. Its charcoal on paper, 18x24. There are some progression pictures too.
Cheers.

You've done a very nice job on this one, Josef - I especially like the soft edge on the eastern cheek. Can you tell us the materials you used, particularly the paper?

Thank you very much Linda.
For the materials, I used vine charcoal, charcoal pencil, compressed charcoal, paper stump, and kneaded eraser. For the paper, I used bond paper sheets (18x24). They are less heavy but I prefer the smoothness.

Very nice portrait, Josef. Reminds me a lot of early Lucien Freud.

Josef,
This is a great and engaging portrait. One can really be captured by the thoughtful expression; there is depth to this portrait.
