Mimi in Seattle

Hello everyone,
I live in Seattle and have been a doodler for a long long time. I started drawing faces when I was a teen, and in college I took several art classes, including several drawing classes, but that's as far as it went.
I raised two sons and continued to work full time through it all. Every now and then I'd start drawing again, but real life always got into the way.
Now that they're both out of the house (older one just turned 30!) I find myself with a lot more free time and I sort of fell back into wanting to do art. I started with watercolors last April and discovered that color is really fun.
Here are some of my paintings:
The first one, dobro man, is 5x9" on cold press paper
followed by the drummer, which is about 8x12"
followed by a self portrait with a young friend, also a small format.
the last one is a beloved cousin, who makes an ugly face whenever you take his picture. Once,I caught him once off guard. All the photos here except the one of me are mine. My husband often takes pictures hoping I'll paint them. And sometimes I do!
Although most of the people on here do oils, and the technique for painting itself is VERY different, I think there is a lot to learn from other people painting, well, other people.
It also seems to me that a bit of technique is involved, and to help in that area, I am investigating life drawing sessions here in the Seattle area. I was very excited to find this place and I hope I get to know some of you, I am very much in awe of the caliber of work here!
