My latest commission. This actually was a donated piece which took over a year to complete. A customer who wanted just the right look on her beautiful daughter. She has two other children which will be paying commissions.

I have had good luck with this benefit auction. This year I heard there were two families in a bidding war. The family which won at the auction have three children and the second family have contacted me, they have two children. Not bad for a donated head and shoulders!

Thank you for looking.

Just a note, the back of the head on our right is not that black. It really sinks in her on my image. Reads round on the actual portrait. I guess I should have adjust in photoshop. Seems I'm always in a hurry!

I like it, it looks so effortless and the asymmetrical composition on the square format is brilliant.

Thomasin, Allan and Alex,
Thank you. Allan, I happy that you think the drawing looks effortless because in truth is is layers and layers of graphite, slowly built up. I am really itching to paint because I believe my drawings are getting closer to what painting a portrait is like. I push and pull allot to get the form I like. This piece was difficult because the client wanted little contrast on her face, which is not what I prefer. But we all know the customer is always right!

Patricia,

Very nice drawing...I have to agree with Allan in that it looks effortless. I especially like the way you treated the hair...and the rest of the face is very soft and sweet.

Thank you, Carlos.
I should not admit it, but rendering hair has long been my nemesis, to the point that I am anxious before I even start and I am always afraid it shows. I feel dislexic with the curls!

A beautiful portrait Patty. I'm sure the clients will love it, and congratulations on your bidding war!
