the commitment, oil on canvas, 30 x 40

Hello there,

It's been awhile since i visited this site. It's because of some other stuff that I had to do. anyway, the important thing is that I'm back with a fresh new track.

Here is one of my latest work entitled "commitment". It's a figurative painting using a contemporary impressionism approach or whatsoever they may call it. I hope you like it. If you can say something for my improvement then feel free to tell me so.

thanks,
xander

Beautiful, soft piece, Xander. I like the harmony of your mark-making very much. Could you post a close-up so we could see the brushwork in more detail?

Xander,

You have arranged this composition very well. There's a tension between the directions of the woman and the loom, and a repetition of overlapping forms in the mountain and the hat. I like these very much. It would help if you could find a way to post some close-ups so we could really appreciate the brushstrokes and details.

I would also like to hear something about the idea behind this painting and your reasons for choosing the subject matter.

Xander, when I looked at your painting I was immediatly reminded of the quietness of the rice fields around Bali. Mist enshrouding everything. Your painting has that same feel to it and brought back some fond memories...
