Clarisse Sketch in Acrylics

Hello everyone,

As I love to paint with various media, I thought I'd try acrylics. I have not found anything about this medium in the forum so I had a hard time choosing among different brands of extra-fine acrylics.
I finally chose one and received it yesterday.

Here is a sketch I did today with primary colors plus white in about fifteen to twenty minutes. Acrylics dry so quickly that I think I will have to practice a lot to get used to it! All those visible brushstrokes couldn't be avoided even if I painted as fast as I could.
I used acrylics with water, no other medium.
Have some of you ever tried acrylics? Any comments welcome. I would also greatly appreciate if you could post some of your works done in acrylics, or any advice about brands, medium, grounds, etc.

Sincerely,
Karine

Hi Karine --

Nice sketch !

There are some acrylics on the forum if you look under 'other medium critiques' for one. . . I started out back in 2003 with acrylics (there's one early one here ) but switched to oils a couple of months later after lots of feedback suggesting that they were better suited to the kind of work I was after. Never looked back--Love the oils!

Hi Terri,

Thank you! I searched the forum but I guess that posts in the critiques section don't appear when using the general search engine, since this section is protected by a password.
That, or I did not do it carefully...
You did a great job on Hannah. I hope I can master acrylics some day like you do.
I will have to read the posts contents in the critiques section. I saw different pictures, but did not have enough time to read the posts.
Did you use some medium with your acrylics like a retarder?

Thank you very much for the information.

Sincerely,
Karine

PS: One of my friends just told me that the picture I posted did not reflect at all the colors of my sketch. I will try to post another one soon.
