California Senator
Phew... finally done!
This is a 36x24 Oil on linen of Senator Rose Anne Vuich. She is the first woman to be in the California Senate.
The State of California is dedicating a room to her which this will be the centerpiece painting up at the Capitol Building in Sacramento.
Unveiling is set for January 3rd.
Happy Holidays, Everyone!
Best
Tony

Tony,
This is a beautiful painting. I always enjoy seeing your work and this is no exception. I really want to see this one in person to see how the paint is applied, how thick/thin, etc. In lieu of that, would love to see a few close-ups of face and hands.
Exceptional, as always.

Hi Tony
Did you do it from a photo? Can you give us a close up of hands and face? Very warm and soft atmosphere, did you scumble more then usually?
bye

Tony, nice brush work. I especially like your representation of the fall of light.

Well, unfortunately, i didn't have the opportunity to paint her while she was alive. I had to work from a glamor portrait of her and had to shoot my sister in law for the figure.
These are pretty tricky when you get a commission like this.
Rose passed away in 2001 and they were commemorating a room in the California State Capitol to her.
Anyway, I will get around to posting some close-ups when I put the final retouch varnish on the painting. There is some drying flat issues on it right now.
Best

Tony--
Nice job, especially with all the assembly you had to do with the pose. It's very believable.

Tony,
I think you did a great job on this. I'm impressed with the way you melded the head and body. It's so hard to give a glamor photo the timeless look of a portrait, but by the way you've posed your sister-in-law, the crossed arms seem as though they are in the middle of a gesture that goes well with the expression. The rose color (a play on her name?) is lovely. I like the way it gets cooler and darker below the arms.
