Hannah and Chuck

Hannah and Chuck is an 18x14 oil on canvas. Hannah had never seen an ocean before this visit to California. Out of a series of digitals I took, I was attracted to the symmetry of this one.

Garth,
At first I thought I was looking at the refererence photos. Wow this painting is great. Water, especially moving water, is so hard to do well. In this case it was masterfully done. Congratulations.

This painting tells a great story. Without your telling us it is evident the adult is comfortable with the sea and the child is unsure and curious. Very appealing painting!

Richard and Pat,

Thank you for your complements. The sloping lines and the story beckoned me to paint this one. I experimented with the water until I came up with a technique I liked. I think I learned something, at least with the ocean.

Thanks again,

Jerome

Dear Jerome, Garth, G-2,

What a very lovely painting! I think it is extremely successful all around. The color harmony sets a very believable mood, and is very subtle; with just the note of blond hair, you have really conveyed your focal point. The design of the painting is really effective.

Congratuations!

This is by far my favorite of your paintings. Wish I'd done it!

Chris and Michele,
Thank you for such positive responses. These last two oils were figurative experiments. I
