"This world, in which we live needs beauty in order not to sink into despair" - John Paul II
Before the chance passes by I would like to offer my deep appreciation to Marvin Mattleson for his rich contribution here on the forum. I noticed this morning that below his name are the words "temporarily inactive" and that his esteemed credentials are provocatively absent from below his picture.
Marvin has been a teacher and a leader amongst some great portrait artists in this community and he would be sorely missed, should he not return to this forum.
Interestingly, Marvin started 39 threads and participated in over 100. My advice to other students would be to do as I have done, and print out these threads as Marvin has so much to teach. We can only hope he publishes his own book on painting and soon!!
No of hits per topic (my favorites):
3,927 - Sylvia at Seventeen
980 - Moria start to finish
7,573 - Cadmium free and loving it
4,445 - Artificial lighting
1,555 - Moria (Girl with a crystal earring)
3,045 - Very limited palette
2,159 - Matching north light w/ fluorescent bulbs
2,047 - Alive but not kicking
I also spent a deal of time this afternoon re-reading other professional artist's kudos to Marvin and considered posting some of those quotes here. But, no need, we all know just how phenominal Marvin's work is. It always speaks for itself.
Marvin, if you happen to read this, thank you for putting forth all the energy and for offering your knowledge to those eager to learn on this forum. And so I wish for you an abundance of the creative inspiration which is the starting point of every true work of art!!
Best to you, Marvin.
