Hello, I haven't visited in a long time, been so busy

But I recently got back from the Philippines where I met up with some artists. One of which comes from a 3 generations of wonderful portrait artists - Amorsolo.
I have to share this story with you guys because only fellow portraitists would appreciate it. Anyway, it turns out the youngest Amorsolo has possession of a BEAUTIFUL portrait of former Philippine (late) president Ferdinand Marcos. This portrait was commissioned by an owner of a big department store as gift to Ferdinand Marcos who was then exiled to the US (or did he escape to the US? lol) Anyway, the day this portrait was to be picked up and paid for was the day the current President Nonoy Aquino was assassinated. So needless to say, the client decided not to pursue the transaction for fear of being implicated.
The artist, Pedro Amorsolo, died this year. And it's so sad to see this painting in a little house sort of hiding from vandals. I couldn't get inside the house because it was not accessible to my wheelchair so I just handed someone my camera. I sure wish I could have taken some close up shots (they tried and it was all blurred). And they were afraid for people to know they had it since they live in a poverty stricken neighborhood.
I've attached the only good photo I have ... I hope I did it right?
Hope you've all been well and feeling more normal after some big feasts over Thanksgiving!

Cheers~ Erika
