Christine

Well, I really dislike posting my final portrait of Christine after just viewing Jimmie Arroyo's Claire, but here she is, just the same!! I am happy with the finished piece, though I know there is much to learn and practice with rendering hair. I am glad I went back and deepened the darkest darks. Thank you for the encouragement to do so, Michele and Jimmie.

Hey, now that looks MUCH better than previous stage. Congratulations on having the courage (was gonna use another word that rhymed with walls) to go in and darken it. Also noticed a hint of her smile wrinkles. Hope this gives you the confidence for your following pieces.

Jimmie - Hey you noticed! Yes, I did go in and accent her smile line just a bit. It looks better in person because it doesn't show up much in the image here. Next is my son, Kris but I decided to do another photo shoot.

Josef - thank you for the compliment!

Hi Patricia :

Your portrait is beautiful, and so especial mainly because it is so rarely feminine!

Congratulations!
Rui.

As I said in another post this is by far your best. Your values are much better now that you have incorporated some darker values. Great model and pose also. The composition works well. You are so deserving of a fine portrait with all the hard work you've put in!

Patricia, I second Kim, you can be very proud of this one. What I like most is the obvious warmth that shines from this portrait. I feel that these emotional responses to artwork are as important as the quality and technique of the drawing itself. When all are combined, the result is breathtaking. You are out of your "dryspell"!

Thank you Rui, Mike and Kim!

You have made my day! I am tickled to receive compliments on the pose because it is just what I "saw" when Christine was sitting for me. I think she is very pretty in a classic sense so I wanted a classic pose. This is the first portrait I have done from conceptualizing what I wanted, to setting up the photo shoot (after two failed shoots!!), to the final portrait (after six drawings!!).
