Possible changes in next few days
A hacker has been hitting the Forum the last couple of days and causing the server to go down. The Forum software is sorely in need of upgrading to the current version in order to close up security holes. I thought I'd try to do the upgrade tonight, but the more I read, the more I became overwhelmed and finally had to admit it was really over my head. The only other option is to pay the vBulletin people $135 to do the upgrade.
So...
1. If you're unable to access the Forum in the next days, it's either because a hacker has knocked off the server or the Forum is in the process of upgrade (likely won't happen on the weekend).
2. After upgrade, it's quite possible you will see the raw look of the Forum as it comes from the vendor until I can get time to re-do all the customizations - possibly up to two weeks of work.

Thank you, Michele. Pray?
The Forum uses such things as sql, php, telnet for backup - all things I know nothing about. I've been reading and posting over on the vBulletin help Forum, but all their answers start at too high a gradient for my level of knowledge.
I've spent the whole day on this and feel that about the only thing I've accomplished is determining that it will be less frustrating and expensive to get them to do the upgrade. Then, the customizations, who knows how long that will be.

Good luck, Cynthia, and you have my sincere best wishes along with a great deal of sympathy. Of all the things I hate to do, messing with something on the internet as complex as a website has to be up there among the top choices. Having the professionals do it will save you a lot of frustration and grief; I've finally begun using a professional even to service my Mac for that reason. Hope it all goes smoothly and you're (WE'RE) back up and running before you know it! I'll keep my fingers crossed.
