Hi Y'all - I'm from Georgia too

Well, now that I've done the obligatory plural-form greeting, thanks for being here. I've really enjoyed reading through the forum, and feel I've learned a lot already.

I'm returning to my art roots after way too many years away. Since I had a graphic arts degree, I got some art training, but not enough.

I'm struggling to get my drawing/painting skills in better shape, and after every painting I do, I realize how much more I need to concentrate on drawing. So, even though this is an intro, I would love feedback on what suggestions you would have - break away and do nothing but drawings for a while, or try to integrate painting/drawing?

Also, when would you suggest a person is ready to put a painting up for a critique?

Thanks again, and a sample of my work is attached, so you can see my current level.

There's no time like the present, Julie. The sooner you get started, the soon you get there.

Welcome, and wade in.

Hello Julie, I'm in Snellville Georgia. Glad to see you here. Your portrait is very nice! You did a great job of reflecting the color from the blouse just slightly to your subject's face. That portrait shows a lot of your subject's personality too.
