The Mayor in Red
Here's the finished portrait of the mayor in her red shirt for those who might be curious about the final painting.
I took the picture with my digital camera and there's some odd texture in the blouse, but otherwise it's a decent image.
It's 24" x 30" in oils on canvas.

What a trooper!
Leslie how about a close-up. Has she seen it yet?
The background and shirt I think came out well. I bet you're excited!

Thanks, Beth. Glad you like it. But you want a close-up, now! I'm amazed that I was able to capture it that well with my digital; that's a first. What did you want a close-up of: the face?
I'm very pleased with it; I think her personality and confidence come across well, which is what I was after. I think the pearls help tame the shirt, too. I would have liked more time, but sometimes it's good to work under pressure.
I emailed her to come see it but haven't heard from her. Looks like she may have to wait for the formal presentation now. That will be at Trump Taj Mahal, as the governor's portrait presentation was. I'll honor my usual offer to make minor changes once she has it though.

Here's a close up but it's not very sharp. Not sure how to make it sharper, but I shot it at automatic settings with my Canon G2 and I really need to learn how to use all of its features. I also see some odd white dots which aren't in the actual painting; they seem to be a sort of artifact.

Beth,
The mayor finally saw her picture in a preview arranged by the person who commissioned it. (It will be presented to her formally this Friday night.) She sent me an email saying:
"Leslie,
I absolutely love it. Thank you so much. I can't wait for my family
to see it.
Suzanne"
Always nice to hear!
