In my own search, I've found excellent teachers who are willing to teach the craft of painting: Peggy Baumgaertner tops that list.
This will also be announced in another spot on the forum, I

Workshops
Do any of the quality workshops offer scholarships? I'm interest rich and money poor.

I know there are some offered by the Scottsdale Artists' School. Call and ask them about the process: 480-990-1422.

Texas workshops?
I keep searching for workshops in Texas but haven't come across any. I live in Houston, Texas and have taken the art classes at the Glassell School (part of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston) but haven't found any other portrait classes.
I would love to hear of any instructors, classes or workshops in Texas.
Thank you for any info,
Joan

Joan,
You might be interested in checking out the Dallas-based Associated Creative Artists. I was actually looking for some leads in the Austin area, but the ACA site caught my eye because of some names on their current workshop line-up, including a favorite of mine, Gregg Kreutz, as well as SOG Artist Joy Thomas.
Current chair of the membership committee is Marian Hirsch. I believe there's contact information on the website, but if not then get back to me on that.

I was sad that William Whitaker's workshop filled up so quickly, but instead I will be traveing to SLC, Utah for Frank Covino's workshop in April. I'm so excited! I recently picked up oils again (most of my work now is in pastels), but wanted to learn proper techniques of the Masters. I know I'll learn much since so many have praised Frank's workshops. When I return (and complete the artwork), I'll post the results. Any suggestions as to subject matter for my master copies? I love the works of David, Ingres and Bouguereau.
