Hello all

Hello all, new member here. I'm Louis (silent s) Bispo, or L. Lawrence. I'm an art student of some years, looking to take things to the next level - if only to pay for some of my art supplies! I make some of my own pigments and paints, which occasionally makes things cheaper, but usually more expensive as I experiment. I'm fascinated by traditional art materials and techniques. I like doing portraits, and lately I've become interested in Southwest and Western art. I work in oils, pen & ink, sometimes pastels.

I'm looking forward to participating in these forums, there are so many amazing artists here! Here are a few of my oil paintings to introduce myself. The first and last are 12X12, painted this year from photos I took of our awesome model van. The other two are a bit older, from life; the burnt umber pickout is 12X16, the guy with the black shirt 11X14 in Zorn palette. Thanks for looking!

Welcome Louis! I admire a lot of things about your work and your brushwork. This forum is great place to come to go to the next level and I think it's safe to say all of us are working on the same goal with you!

Thank you Natalie and Terri for the warm welcome. Natalie, this forum does indeed seem like a great place to take things to the next level - I'll spend some time reading and learning, then jump in. Terri, thank you - the first and last in this set are more recent paintings than the others (and were also done from photos, which makes things easier!).
