Here Are My Works

Here are two portraits I did during my spare time. I am not a full time portrait artist, I work as a 2d and 3d animator and painting in oil is one of my most hidden desire. The portrait of the couple is a comission and the little girl is my daugther.

Welcome to the forum, Jojo.

Your work is lovely. I especially like the style of the portrait of your daughter. It is quite a unique blend of portraiture and what I imagine is your animation style. Very nice!

I don't have formal lessons in using oil. I only paint what I presumed the more experienced portrait artist does in layering colors. But when I get lost, I go back to what I learned in illustration, dividing the planes and lay colors in blocks and try to make the values correct. That's the reason I always read about the Mattleson palette. The painting of the couple was done using the Mattleson palette but adding Cad light red in the string. I also like Wlliam Whitaker and Daniel Greene.

Welcome to the forum, Jojo! Doing planes and values is always a great thing to do. You're obviously well on your way!

Thank you Natalie. Another reason why I joined here is the wealth of information a portrait artists could absorbed. Until now I still have not finished reading all the entries in the entire forum.
