Just finished this portrait

It has been a while that I posted on this forum. Been working hard, lots of commissions, so that is great. It is the first time that I am almost fully booked for the coming year! This is a portrait I just finished, she is a wonderful woman, 85 years old and a well-known artist in the Netherlands, she makes wonderful bronze sculptures of children. She still works, although it is not always easy.

It is oil on canvas and 40 x 50 cm.

I'm also very thrilled to hear of your success.

I really love the portrait you've posted, it has a warm and approachable feel, and I think she is a woman I'd like to have coffee with. She reminds me a great deal of my neighbor, who is competent, bright, funny, and also a recent widow. Sometimes it can be that familiar, visceral response that grabs the viewer.

Bianca,

It looks like you enjoyed painting her, You really captured the light in her eyes and the strong bone structure of her face. I get a definite impression of her character and what it might feel like to be actually talking to her.
