Lovely, Beth. The dimensionality is wonderful, you can really feel the air around the head. Beautiful expression!

Beth,

This just knocks my socks off!

What absolutely gorgeous and luminous skin-tones.

Color, lots of REAL color. I love it!

Simply beautiful!
You have taken everything to the limit, the color, contrast and emotion.

Whew Mischa you want to see the nose close? Nice try Allan on the nose thoughts, my mom was known as "Nosler"! (Osler)

Thank you all so much, it's fun to do yourself because you can really push it. Personally I think that is exactly why Rembrandt painted himself so much. (I know there are other reasons too.)

Chris I had to do this from reference I shot. With my mind... you know the type when you look up a number and you forget it when you turn away... I thought it would make me crazy. I also wanted to highlight the most prominent part of me, thus the profile. Now if I could have animated the lips talking, the whole thing might have been different.

Here are the close ups Mischa, I wasn't sure how close you wanted to see this, so two ways.

Beth, this is stunning, I especially like the modelling of the form, very well shown in the nose close up.
I am working on a self portrait too, so I really empathize with this painting.
Many thanks for posting it
Ilaria
