Well, the costume was the model's idea - he is from Egypt and wanted to do something different  Needless to say we were very happy!

Great job, Maria.
I agree with Alex and Kim. The hand and face are very strong and really convey a solid look. My eye wraps around the face. I'm especially impressed that this was done from life.

John, thank you very much!
Believe me or not, but I can't paint from photos  I did try a few times, but it all went to trash... So I'm sticking to the painting from life till I get more experience

I'm the complete opposite of that thought. I work mainly from photographs but wish to work more from life. I think you'd miss working from life if you worked exclusively from photos, but that's just my opinion. I know many artsits who swear by it, wish I was one of them.

Thanks, Jimmie!
I love working from life, but still would like to be able to use photo references. Would be nice to paint my kids now, before they reach their teens
|
