Wonderful new portrait by Bart Lindstrom
I'm just wild about this new portrait by Bart Lindstrom - 22" x 32". I've asked his permission to post it and I'm hoping to entice him into joining and sharing some of his talents. I scanned it for his site about six times so I could be sure and pick up as many of the nuances as possible.

What a beautiful thing to behold on so many levels. I've been a big fan of his work ever since I first saw it on SOG.

I couldn't agree more.
I think it is so very hard to successfully marry such a richly saturated background with these delicate, subtle skin tones. Red, to me, always has a raucous, energetic sense, and with this girl's introspective quiet expression, I think it produces a marvelous tension.
This is a painting that I appreciate for its originality and complexity - and the things that I can learn from it. The composition is unusual, and the edges are lovely.
Congratulations, Bart.

That is a real stunner and I am so glad you received permission to post it, Cynthia. Thank you.
I think I need to start over. I sure hope Bart joins the fun so I can pick his brain.
So wow. So incredibly wow.

I have just been looking at a lot of Bouguereau paintings and I feel like I'm seeing another looking at this. It's simply magnificent. The skin tones are the epitome of beauty. Bouguereau in his red period? I am also intrigued by the high value of the background in the middle of the painting. I couldn't get away with that. I don't know if anyone else could.
Thank you for bringing this artist to my attention. So splendid and so masterful.

Breathtaking!
I can't get over the incredible quality of life and light in this painting. Truly a masterpiece.
I'm also glad that Bill said his piece about this kind of lighting. Seems I commonly set up something like this and fail miserably. Now I don't feel quite so stupid and I have a great example to study. Thanks, Bill for your insights!
