A friend of mine

I know you will like these. They are by a very humble friend of mine who doesn't know how good she is. Her name is Virginia Imbler. She is not online, and I told her I would print your comments and give them to her.

The first is an oil 30" x 24" of a girl and her fawn whom she rescued as a tiny baby, and raised it.

Watercolor 28" x 22

There are dozens more! I think it will encourage her to go online and share some more.

Oh my Gosh! Lon, I am speechless, and they are wonderful. You simply MUST convince her to join SOG and share her secrets! Watercolor has always been my favorite medium. If I could handle it like that I'd quite my day job.

These are so good it takes my breath away! I love watercolor too....but have absolutely no talent for it. I think watercolor takes a lot of special skills. If you make mistakes with watercolor, you start over, you can't just go over it easily like you can with oils. I collect Watercolor prints like this from another artist who sells at our local art fair. I have thought about posting them so you could see them, but I would do it seperately from this thread because I think your friend deserves her own limelight! I don't see any watercolor artists on SOG. Maybe it can't compete in the same market? Anyway, I think your friend Virginia is as good as the great Steve Hanks. Does she sell her work? Where did she study her technique?

There are some watercolorists on SOG, but most are not strictly watercolor. Go to the watercolor gallery at http://www.portraitartist.com/watercolor.htm.

She does sell her work (well, nearly "gives it away"), and has loads of photos like these of really great stuff! I will let her answer your other questions when she gets here!

Please add my praise to the chorus! The choice of subjects and compositions are so fresh and wonderful. Outdoor portraiture is so tricky yet, as we can see, so worth her efforts in both oil and WC. The technical skill is fantastic, especially the draftsmanship and value design. This artist belongs here! I hope to see more of her work soon.

Hi Lon,

The painting and the watercolors look great. Can you post more?

Peter
