I got a look at the new Sargent book of children's portraits today, I think it's called "Expectations." It's wonderful!! It's going on my list!

My wish list would begin with any book that would teach me the relevant skills needed for a career in portraiture and figurative work as I aspire and am inspired by the technical skills by Nelson Shanks, Pietro Annigoni, Juan Martinez, Giovanni Boldini, Sargent, and the like.

Also I am inspired by heaps of artists here on the forum.

Or even a quality print from any of these would be.....WOW! to hang on my wall so I can stay focused.

Philip de Laszlo

Christmas may have come and gone, but I finally got my brand new hardback copy of " A Brush with Grandeur" today.

I can now say goodbye to the weekend ! ! !

It may be I've missed the boat, and everyone already has their copy of the book. But if you don't have it, I urge you to get it . It is a stunning collection of the most beautiful portraits imaginable, and there is good reference to his life in Hungary, Britain, royalty, and his contemporaries like Sargent.

You won't be disappointed!
