Welcome Back

Welcome back, Lon. I've missed your posts. As a semi-sketch junkie, I can relate to your posts just fine.

Lon, it's great to see you back here. You are doing what is the very essence of portraiture: looking into someone's eyes and capturing them in your own way as an artist. This is the very core of what it means to be an artist and I salute you.

Besides, as you know, I'm a closet cartoonist and I never read your posts without having an overwhelming urge to get out there and do this, too.

Thanks!

Holly, nice to meet you! I work inside, in the center of a mall. I use a swing arm lamp. My models chair is on wheels, and I have to always adjust the light to the best position for each model, that depending on their view. There is alot of light, so I have to use the light to create a soft shadow, and the light is at a 45% angle, as are my strokes.

Mike! I can always count on you for an encouraging word. What a guy. My book is print on demand, and can be special ordered at any bookstore at the desk. They just might bring it in if you ask them. It is in our local Barnes & Noble, Borders and B. Dalton. So I know that they can stock it if you ask. I did not ask these stores to carry it!

Michele, I am in good company right here! Thanks. I don't always make that kind of money, but sometimes I do. I love to sketch, and I do not regret the dues paid. I am not tired of it even after thirty years.

Julie, I have not critiqued for a while. I really do something so different than what is here, that I feel I am a little out of my category. Thus, maybe there could be a new "sketch "category.

Lida, you should get out there and sketch! I consider the quick pencil sketch the most enjoyable thing I do. I could draw all day and night and not get tired at all. It just energizes me.
