For those of you that don't already know about this site, it is a great place to pick up extra work. I became a member a couple of years ago and through it landed several freelance jobs which helped tremendously while my husband was laid off.
The site used to be called creativemoonlighter.com, but has recently been completely redone and now goes by the name
Guru.com
Basic membership is free, but I opted to pay the $100 per year in order to submit unlimited bids and to be able to bid right away instead of having to wait 72 hours. Originally, I signed on to do computer work, but they have since added an entire section for fine artists - painters, sculptors, illustrators - you name it. You just fill out your profile, and can search for jobs to bid on. If a new job is entered that meets your profile, you are sent a notification. Also, employers can seek you out and invite you to bid. If you don't bid on the minimum (I think it's 8) jobs per year, then your annual membership is extended until you have bid on that guaranteed number of leads.
There are over 300,000 pros who belong to the site, so competition is fierce - but only a small minority are fine artists and the talent on this site is above reproach and anyone looking for extra work is sure to find it there.
