Did you try this new varnish? Did you like it? Do you still need to put glass overy your work when this is used? I love these pastels, but I just can't afford to frame every single thing I do on a whim. Is it possible to NOT need to protect with glass?

This just works as a fixative on pastel. I prefer the Perfix by Rowney. Unfortunately, I have never come across a way to completely protect pastels other than to cover them with glass or plexiglas (only in a pinch, only for oversized).
Any other method I have explored significantly changes the colors and ruins the blues.

I just slip sheets of glassine between my pastels and drawings until they are framed.
