You betcha! The new gal from Minnesota
Wow! Hi people. I'm Amy Otteson and I've been reading the posts on this forum and learning a bunch! I've been afraid to jump in. But if I'm going to make some progress this year with my work, I need to get out here.
I have been working in the art field for the last 20 years, in a variety of capacities. I've been an art teacher for about 7 years. Now that I am past 40, I am pursuing something I have wanted to do since high school. I am painting portratis part time and taking as many classes and workshops as I can afford. I hope to get some great advice from you wise people. I will try to attach one of my portraits. Nice being here! Whew!, that wasn't so hard.

Amy,
Hello and welcome!
There are several of us moderators with midwestern roots, and so we look to great "Fargo" type humor!
Lovely painting, see you on-line

Steven,
Holy Moly, its a small world! One of my teaching stints for two years was at Oak-Land Jr. High in the Stillwater area. Now I am the part-time art person at Lake Elmo Elementary where my two daughters attend. This will be my 3rd year at the school. (They don't have a 'real' art teacher. I am sponsored by the PTA as an artist in residence type person with minimal hours and minimal pay.) I think it is important for the kids to work with a real art teacher, so I'm involved. Do you know the farm property at the SW corner of 30th and Manning? Thats where I am. Okay, enough of old home week. Thanks for the welcome. I hope to post some works in progress and some for critique when the kids are back in school and my painting time picks up.

Oops, Chris, thanks for the welcome, too. I was just busy making a hotdish and some lime jello. I'm as rooted as you can get here in the Midwest. And Steven, I do plan to make the trek to the State Fair and leave the kids and husband to the pronto pups while I peruse the Fine Arts exhibit.

I hope you'll reconsider. I believe there's a state law requiring the ingestion of at least three pronto pups before heading for the exhibits. I wouldn't want you to get into trouble with the Gopher Patrol.

I just have to ask, what is a pronto pup?

Brand name for the Official State (Fair) food: corn dogs. Lime jello is optional at the fair, because it's hard to put it on a stick and deep fat fry it.
