I like the painting and agree that the negative space and placement of the subject should be considered. The use of color is very good throughout the painting until you get to the blue shirt that troubled Cynthia. While everything else is multi colored the shirt is only light, medium, and dark blue. It is also more strongly rendered then any other elements and therefore takes on a threatening appearance to the eye and more importance than it deserves.

Good job!

P.S. Take another look at the fingers on the left hand. The picture is not strong on my monitor but they appear to bend outward.
