Hi Mary,

Try Senelier La Carte, Windberg, or Wallis (either professional or museum grade) pastel papers. These will have finer texture (Windberg has the finest texture). The only drawback with Windberg and Wallis is that they have very limited range in the colours that come with the paper. I normally tone my Wallis paper before painting as they only come in white or Belgian mist colours.
