Transparent, opaque, mineral, organic, inorganic

Hello,

In my "Self Portrait" thread Brian Koetz brought up the terms: transparent, organic, opaque, etc. so I started doing some research. I had all my paints organized by color (all the reds together etc). Today I rearranged by transparent synthetic organic, trans mineral, and opaque etc. (I don't have any natural organics). Now I think I will pull my self- portrait down and do some glazing as an experiment.

#1 Does anyone have any suggestions, or comments before I destroy my husband's anniversary present?

#2 Can I use Venice turpentine exclusively for my glazing medium?

Jean
