Pastel Portrait of a Young Man

This pastel is painted on Wallis paper and measures 20" x 16". This is the first time I have used this paper and find it to be much better than any others I have used in the past. I should note that the paper and pigments seemed to darken much more so than other papers I have used when I applied spray fixative.

Though I have done a lot of studies in pastel this is the first commissioned portrait in this medium and found my 120 color set very short on many of the colors/values that I would like to have had available.

Mom liked the painting but the youngster has not seen it yet. He is four years old and told me a dirty joke. ......."A pig fell into the mud"
