Dianne, I wouldn't continue at all if I were you.
I find it very complete as it is.
I really don't like vignette portraits, except if the empty space is structured as in this case. The unfinished portion is there to testify your process, and further work will weaken the painting which is instead very interesting.
I believe that, if you will continue from a photo, you will not resist the temptation to "correct" the head and bring it to a higher degree of finish, thus loosing its strenght.
Reconsider your work with confidence and you will see that it's perfect as it is!
