Sweet Water
Pastel on Wallis
32" x 40"
This one was inspired by an Absolut Vodka print. I wanted to enter it into a local exhibition held at a winery, but by the time I finished the deadline had past.
I'd really appreciate your comments, criticisms, advice, etc.

Great job Rich, but what is Wallis, is it paper or some kind of board?

Dan,
I was referring to Wallis Museum Grade paper. I'm sorry I didn't make that known before. And thanks for the response.
Here are some close up shots, and I apologize for editing so many times.

I had a tough time with the perspective on this one. If anyone has any comments or suggestions, feel free to respond. Thanks in advance.

I think you nailed the perspective, Richard. Overall I like this piece. I do have a question, though: it seems like the face is done in a different style than the rest of the piece - more breaks in continuity of shadows - that is, more abrupt transitions. That and her severe expression disturb me a bit, but perhaps that was the intention of the piece? To disturb the viewer a bit and make them wonder about her expression?

Dear Richard,
I am sorry that I missed commenting on this portrait earlier. I really love the way you have handled the skin tones, the shirt and the background. I feel that the orange foreground is a bit arbitrary, though, in that it doesn't have the variety and color movement that is present in the rest of the piece.
Your perspective is odd because there is photo distortion in your resource photograph. In order to have avoided it, you would have had to stand considerably farther away from your model, then zoom in. (From this angle, you'd have probably needed a step stool!) That being said, I don't really mind the distortion as it adds to the impression of the point of view.
I'll take a stab at making a photo shop adjustment - here I selected most of what was below the neckline, and just stretched it downward using the Image Transform Skew Command.
