Visit to the Uffizi

I'll be visiting the Uffizi in October! I want to buy my tickets online ahead of time. I have found there are more than one website where these tickets are sold. Does anyone here have experience with any such companies? Reliability, service fees, etcetera? (Pardon me, but I plan to post this in more than one area, in hopes of getting someone to actually see it!)

Thanks, Susan Kuban

Not sure about the on line purchase but I know that the lines in front of the Uffizi are constant and in season. These lines are filed with people that hold tickets, I know being that I stud in line with a ticket. Purchasing on line will not grant one privilege to go in ahead of others. Special tours and groups do get in sooner but not all. Being that it is October that you plan to go, I do not think you will have the crowds. It is in the New Year the tourist season picks up. I personally prefer the Pitti exhibit but all are worth the time even the small churches around town. Enjoy.

Susan, for the Uffizi I went last year in October and there was no queue at all.
If you want to buy tickets in advance however it is worth booking a visit to the Vasarian corridor (inside Uffizi) which has a collection of self portraits (there is even Cecilia Beaux 's sp) and is not always open.

Hi Susan

I was in just your position last October too - Taking my parents for a visit I ended up deciding the websites all looked too questionable to trust and plumped for chancing it with the queues - I wasn't as lucky as Ilaria and found the queues as busy as ever even that late in the season. My tip would be either go VERY early and wait for it to open or buy tickets for entry on another day of your visit if the queues do defeat you. Mischa I noticed that some ticket holding people were mistakenly standing in the (much longer) queue to buy - there are two queues so if in doubt do check with the usually helpful assistants.

Enjoy your visit.

Gongrats on your trip. I saw the exterior of the Ufizzi in April. That's the kind of tour we were on. They kept us moving non-stop, and we didn't get to linger at the places we wanted. I've heard the interior is worth seeing .

Italy is such a great place. I'm still trying to learn the language, in hopes of a future trip.
