This is my final drawing of Kylie. She's been modeling at my house for several months now, and she has been planning to move to L.A. all along. This weekend she's finally doing it. She's leaving because she's young and wants to see more than Louisiana before she settles down. I gave her great encouragement, because she'll never have a better opportunity than this.

This drawing took a couple of hours. She's actually prettier than this, but I'm not a very good artist, and she doesn't stay still (drawing sessions are a regular part of our social lives, and we tend to talk the whole time).

Hopefully, when she comes home for visits she'll stop by and model for me again. I'm going to miss her. She's a good model, and local!

EDIT: For some reason, when posted, the image enlarged, and pixellated (at least, on my monitor). Here's a link to the image on another server... http://i36.tinypic.com/29wqz29.jpg

Thanks, Julie

Here's a pic of Kylie. I don't think this violates the rules of this forum, since it's not a nude photo reference (correct me if I'm wrong).

She sometimes straightens her hair, as in this photo, but she had her natural curls when I drew her.

You've got that jaw angle just right, I think.

I don't agree with that!

When I'm doing a portrait I usually talk a lot with my models too. What I try to do is to make sure that they get back to the right position all the time.

Keep on doing this good job.

Hi Jeff, everything looks wonderful here. A slight curve at the base of the nose, would have made signature likeness to the model.

Jeff Fuchs 11-01-2008 11:18 PM

Agreed, Marcus.

Nince person your subject. even though she has a lovely nose I believe it could be a tad smaller in your drawing.

Jeff, this is beautiful drawing! Reminds me of old master studies.

I bet you are going to miss this one! How wonderful your time shared must have been.

Nice drawing. . .
