- Portrait artist since teens, UW, wis. art major...learned nothing about art. student of Nelson Shanks. Commissioned Portraits; Senator Daniel K. Inouye, Frank Lloyd Wright, Danny Arnold, see my site: portraitsmaui.com. I live on Maui in Hawaii where no one has many walls and portraiture is difficult to sell. I do OK and have enough commissions to work all the time. My husband and I also run two rental cottages on our property. One was my studio.
