Inez & Benny
Hi all,
I haven't had a phone line for months so I have just spent a week catching up on all the good work on the forums I visit.
I took the photos for this one about six months ago and this is the second attempt. The person won the portrait in a charity raffle and didnt want it doing. The challenge is to get her to like it!!! btw she loves the dog!
Unison pastels on sennelier pastel card 60 x45 cms.

Carolyn,
I think it is beautiful - how can she not love it?! Would love to see a close-up of her face.

Thankyou Viginia,
I've attached a closeup for you, the quality is not very good , I had to take it with a flash, but you get the idea.

Carolyn,
Every time I look up you've moved to a different part of the world. It was France then Whateverstan and now it's Ireland. Limerick, Ireland, what a cheerful sounding place. I can hear the music playing in the background. It looks like the travel agrees with your pastels.

Are you saying that she loves the painting of the dog, but not the painting of herself?
My only comment would be regarding the position of her left hand. I think it might have been better out resting on her knee. But I doubt you'd want to mess with that at this point. I think it's a very nice work.

Mike,
Yes Limerick Ireland, and the music, people and scenery are beautiful.
Regarding the hand, I did think of putting it on her knee, one of the references did have it showing but to tell the truth I ran out of umpff if you get my meaning.
The portrait was a prize in a charity auction and was suposed to be a three quater portrait which turned into a full figure and a pet!!!
I just couldn't be bothered with hands as well.
And yes she loves the dog, painting and IRL! I hope this shows.
Lyn.

Oh, I get your meaning very well. It's like the book I used to read to my daughter: If you give a mouse a cookie, pretty soon their going to want a glass of milk.
No good deed shall go unpunished, apparently even in Limerick, Ireland.

Hi Carolyn,
It's a shame that she is not pleased with the painting. How about playing a bit more on the Irish -IRL - green ? That might twist her mind.
Photo shop as usual, Allan

Allan,
Wow, I really like it! I always admire your use of colour.
There is already a touch of that green in the background, I'll give it some serious thought.
I think I just need to be more bold.
It's not that she doesn't like the whole thing, it was mainly her eyes, she is quite proud of them and wanted them to stand out , so I think I've addressed that.

Carolyn,
I think you have done a terrific job here. I like the horizontal format, and bit if tension-space between the two figures, the straightforward viewpoint.
I also do like the quiet background you have.
