This 16x20 pencil portrait of a mother at three stages in her life was commissioned by the son from his photos. Sadly the mom passed away. I added the bird, the roses, the border, and the color pencil at the son's request. I used a Blackwing pencil which is 4B on Canson pure-white paper.
