Stanka, here's another way to keep what's on the palette useable longer:
I don't like to throw out good paint so I cover my whole palette with plastic wrap and stick it in the freezer. Karin Wells recommended that idea to me in a post quite a while back and I've been doing this for about a year now. It keeps the paint fresh for a long time.
I've never tested to see exactly how long this method would keep the paint useable since I take the palette out almost every day to paint, and exposure to the air for those six hours or so while I'm working dries out what's on the palette a bit. I also like to completely clean off my palette every four or five days just to make it easier to see what I'm doing. So, I've never left the paint on long enough to find out how long it would remain fresh by putting it in the freezer.
Since my palette's been keeping company with the frozen peas I no longer feel as if I'm wasting so much paint. Saves me lots of time having to clean off my palette and lay it out again the next day, too!
(I also wrap my dirty brushes in plastic wrap and stick them in the freezer too. I only clean my brushes once a week that way.)
