Nice job, Dianne. I know you live in the Seattle area. Where was this open studio session?

Thank you Michele. I host an open studio at my home at least once a month if not twice. I live in the Olalla area on the Kitsap Peninsula-just a short distance from the Southworth Ferry if you come by boat. You are certainly welcome to join us. There is another open studio session every Tuesday in Gig Harbor hosted by Donna Trent, a well known local artist. You are welcome to come to that one also if you are interested. Let me know, I'll set you up!

Dianne

This painting looks like you had a great time with it. It is full of energy and has a playful feel to it. Nice!

Thanks, Dianne, but it would take me most of the day to get over there. I live in the foothills of the Cascades.

Dianne,

This is rather nice! I love the painterly quality, and the quality you reveal of your subject. Bravo!

Dianne, I love this! The depth in the shadows is wonderful--not too dark, just transparent and full of suggestion. Because of that, and the lovely glow in the light areas, there's a strong illusion of atmosphere and spatial depth in this work.

The other thing I love is the way you describe the model. She comes alive for me. I am planning out a portrait of someone with a blonde braid, and seeing this one reminds me of how much a braid can say. Hers lies beside her elfin face in such a playful way.

Where do you find all these costumes? They are great.
