Hi Patricia,

I hope you don't mind - I've done some color and distortion corrections on one of your photos. I've found that the spherize filter set to -3 or so will eliminate that fish-eye look that the lens casts on photos. A bit of keystoning helps too.

This is the one I would paint - I warmed up the background and her flesh a tad.

If I was going to reshoot - I would go for a touch of a smile - something enigmatic - think Mona Lisa.

I'm a bit less-than-qualified to offer these opinions, but - here they are anyway.

Thank you Cindy! That really made a difference and this is my favorite pose, I will definitely use your image. I still haven't learned Photoshop but I guess I will be forced to as I learn to see what is wrong with my photos. All this technical stuff overwhelms me! I have a feeling this will be my first attempt at painting - will play with it allot over the coming months as I pull out the oils (yikes! but it is time!!)

Marvin, you have chosen the pose which my daughter-in-law likes the best and the one I am going to do "formally". I think it is a beautiful image, one I did not imagine I would respond to as much as I do. It has gotten a big response from my friends and family also.

Sorry to raise another issue after you've probably begun this one but... Was it cold in Ohio the day you did the photo shoot? Her nose is very red in all of the photos.

It was a typical day in Cleveland, cold and rainy. I don't know why her nose looked so red. I thought it might be that she was self conscious in front of the camer. She doesn't blush. But maybe her nose turns red instead. I noticed this in all the pictures.

If I were going to do a painting, I guess I would have to do some color studies from life? Challenging times ahead of me. It takes so much to create a decent graphite drawing, it is overwhelming to even think about all you must know and apply for a painting. The more I hang around this forum the more respect and awe I have for you and the other professional artists here!!

I have started the portrait and am stuck. But will post a image soon, for critique...
