Beautiful painting!

His studio reminds me of Anita Kersher's Longboat Key studio: a feast for the eyes and soul.

Could you post an image of that studio? It's so interesting to see other's studios.

Thanks so much, Beth and Leslie. Derk is one of the most interesting enjoyable people there is. He has a place on the fringe of the city with horses, sheep, an impeccably trained herding dog with a bandana around his neck. He has a chuckwagon and is one of the cowboys each year in the reinactment of the Jesse James's holdup and shoot out - he's as "American" as you can get, and yet he is from Germany and has this very thick accent. Add on top of it his artist's career, and you've got one interesting guy.

I like this one too.

Linda, I would love to see this "up close and personal". Can you post details of the background? He seems to be a fascinating character, and your painting captures this elusive quality quite well. How long did you work on this?
