Minister

It's been awhile since I've posted one of my paintings, and I thought it was about time. This is a posthumous painting of my minister who passed away a few years ago. He meant a great deal to me.

It's 16 X 20 oil on linen and there is a slight glare on the forehead.

Thanks for viewing,

Renee

It's been a while since I've seen your work but this strikes me as one of your best. I like the soft neutral color palette.

Renee, Having seen your reference material I would call this baby a home run. You turned a near impossible situation into a win. I hope your clients realize how lucky they are to have chosen you. Now I'd like to see what you can do with good reference.

Michele,

Thank you very much! I greatly appreciate your opinion and encouragement.

Marvin,

You have no idea how much that means to me right now. Thank you too for your critique during the 'in progress' stage, and as you can tell, I took them to heart.

Thank you both again,

Renee

Renee, what a warm, loving portrait!

Don't you love when a posthumous portrait touches the heart of so many? You have created such a treasurer, will this hang in his church?

Congratulations!

Renee,

You really have captured his beaming smile and I am so impressed with the end results. Everything seemed to finally fall together and you can rest assured that you did it right.

The colors are soft , as Michelle commented, and greatly enhance his personality. I never knew him but I can tell by the way you painted him that he was a kind and generous person. i am sure he was loved by many.

Denise

digital photo

I wanted to post an updated photo. This was taken with a digital camera and the color is much closer to the actual painting, but the red on the right cheek is a lot brighter than in the actual painting.

Beth and Denise, As you know I'm not online as much anymore so I'm sorry I didn't thank you before now. Thank you!! Your input is always appreciated! The painting went to his wife. The first thing she said was that I'd captured his eyes. She was very happy with the painting and teared up as she was looking at it--that's the best reward.

Thank you all again!

Renee

Thanks for the update Renee on the photo!

It's still wonderful... now if you would only come up here and take care of my problems!

Beth

Thank you Chris and Beth! I'm still playing with my new digital camera (love it!) but already the pictures I'm taking are soooo much better. Tom has helped me a lot with photography over the past few years, so I knew what to look for in a camera--now I'm just trying to put it all together.

Thank you all again!

Renee
