Gypsy Flower
30" x 24", oil
I am calling this a 'learning' painting.
The photo had its limitations. I am hoping the back arm is believable. There is a sheen to it (that arm) on this photo since the paint is wet.
I won't be posting this one in Unveilings, so thank you for the help everyone in WIP. Comments are still welcomed, even though I may just put my fist through this one soon.

Beautiful. I was concerned that the position of her legs would look awkward in the painting, but you've done a very nice job.

This has a beautiful quality to it. If you dont mind me saying so, it looks like a lower quality Bougeureau.

Thank you gentleman.
Matthew, that is a nice comment, but I disagree. I am trying to get poses and costumes that are more classic - but in defense of the Master I have to say it isn't even close. I've seen one of his in person. It takes your breath away. But, hey - go ahead and say it...

Kim,
I have to comment on her feet - they are GREAT! I am currently doing study drawings of feet with the Charles Bargue Drawing Course and struggle with them in life drawing class. You painted these feet very realistically!!
I think the adjustment you made to the arm works also. I enjoy watching your paintings progress and appreciate your sharing your learning experiences with us.

Kim,
I think you're being too hard on yourself. I at amazed at how well you did from your photo resource. It is a lovely painting! I'm sure it is even better in person. I see what you are going for and I think you are on your way. What a wonderful stroke of luck, to make friends with a costume shop owner!
Best of Luck!

Patricia,
Thank you - the feet are one thing I am content with at this point!
Marta,
Thank you very much. If I am hard on myself it's because I just realized that for years I was not hard enough. I do feel like I am in the right direction. I think some paintings just give us a harder time - some seem to paint themselves. This one fought me the whole way!
And yes the costume shop is a GREAT thing! Tomorrow I pick up about $600 worth of bordello girl costumes..woohoo! Gonna paint me a western scene.

Hi Kim -
This turned out beautifully. The change in that arm's position is believable and just right with the rest of the pose.
